If you don't want a wireless adapter for xbox 360, do you need an outlet and a long cord to connect to the box?

I have a outlet the a internet connection can go into or a phone line in the room next to the room where my xbox 360 is. So if i were to get xbox live and i dont want to pay for a wireless adapter, should i just do that. Also what do you think is the best deal for the xbox live. A website would be excellent.

I'm a little confused, it sounds like you are talking about connecting it to a wall jack using a dial up connection. Xbox requires a broadband connection like Cable or DSL. If you have either of these then you can connect your xbox to the router via an ethernet cord. The jack on the back of the console is not a phone jack and requires an ethernet cord. As far as deals for xbox live, they are all sold through Microsoft and therefore have the same price.

There are two types of memberships:
Silver, which is the free service, allows you to set up an avatar, use the marketplace for downloads, chat with friends on XBL, and set up a profile.
Gold has all the features of silver and more. Gold also allows for streaming of selected Netfilx movies, provided you have a netflix account, and actually gaming online with your friends.

Gold is about $60 to start up and then has an annual fee of $50 dollars to extend your membership.
