How to I make my installed 'high speed 2.0 usb, 4 ports PCI card' work?
I bought a 'High speed usb 2.0, 4 ports pci card' a while ago and installed it, it works, but not at the '2.0' speed...
when i plug my psp into it, my pc says, 'This device could perform much faster, just plug it into a usb 2.0 high speed usb port (there are no high speed usb 2.0 ports found on this computer)' and it takes about 25 mins to transfer about 1gb.
but why does it say that if the PCI card IS a usb 2.0 card itself? have i bought the wrong hardware? do i need different hardware to upgrade my pc usb to 2.0?help!
thanks
aman
When you purchased your USB card, it should have come with a CD. Did you, in fact, load the drivers for the card?
I would ask you to ignore the posting by wildimagination2003. He's talking out of his rear end. My motherboard only has USB 1.1, and I've successfully installed a USB 2.0 expansion card, as you have. (When I plug my Epson R300 printer into one of the native USB ports, I receive the same message that you're getting, but when I plug it into a USB 2.0 port, everything works fine, with no messages.)
As an afterthought, have you installed your motherboard drivers? You should have received a CD with that too. Plus, you must have Windows XP with at least SP-1 as the USB drivers for Windows were updated with that service pack.
