card reader and 4 port usb hub died ???? why?

about a year ago i bought a card reader for my pc then recently it died ( wouldnt regester any thing plugged into it ) then i replaced it then the new one has started to develope intermitent problems and also quite recently i bought a 4 port usb hub and in a matter of couple of months its completely died on me too ?? why is this happening as there is not many components in these items so how can they be going wrong ???

You can't have been using the safe to remove hardware option from the task bar mate. All you did was plug it in then pull it back out again and burnt it out.
