8GB or 16GB memory card for shooting RAW pictures on a 12 megapixel camera?
If I want to shoot mostly RAW pics on a 12 MP camera, what size card should I get? And how much bigger is a RAW picture compared to a JPEG?
I don't know who gave the thumbs down to cedykeman1 but the suggestion of limiting your card size is a wise one (regardless of how "robust" they make them, Crim Liar).
A 4Gig card can hold a plethora of images, raw or otherwise and, in the "unlikely" event (like that's never happened,... NOT - it's happened to me and my also Pro Sister) that the card takes a crap (fortunately there is recovery software available but imagine the panic...).
Consider the options... if you have more cards... if one takes a crap, you have others.
Not so with a single 16Terabit Super-duper Carry it All Mega Card.
If that takes a dump... so do you.
I like the options of backup (the reason we carry two cameras?... two batteries?... two flash units?... a dozen 4Gig cards?)...
Get the picture?
