4) I know that Microwave ovens cook food by oscillating the molecules of water in food (also fats and sugar to a lesser degree). This oscillation, or vibrating, causes the molecules to collide and produce heat. Contrary to popular belief, microwaves do not cook things from the inside out. Microwaves are usually absorbed by the dryer outside of many foods, but heat the inside more because there is more water closer to the core. The discovery of it's food cooking potential was made when a scientist was accidentally bombarded with a low level microwave and noticed that it melted the candy bar in his pocket.
